More about Maher Jafari:
He has served as Head of Development for high-profile production companies at three major studios, including comedian Kevin James’ company at Sony, where he managed television and digital development. As Director of Development for Executive Producer Michael Edelstein (Desperate Housewives) at ABC Studios, Maher found and developed projects from uncommon sources, with a dozen projects sold to pilot during his tenure. Prior to that, he was on the ground floor of ABC comedies GEORGE LOPEZ and FREDDIE, and Fox’s WANDA AT LARGE, as well as pilots with Louis C.K. and Ron White. He also handled Current Executive duties for mini-studio Mohawk Productions, covering production, writer staffing, and marketing for THE DREW CAREY SHOW, NORM, NIKKI and Adult Swim favorite THE OBLONGS.
As a producer of digital content, Jafari has worked with scripted, unscripted, viral one-offs and talent-driven YouTube channels. He produced the Crackle.com comedy series DUSTY PEACOCK with over a million views, and JOSH JENNINGS FOR CONGRESS, a political spoof that spent a week on Funny or Die’s front page while the subsequent Kickstarter-funded pilot won the New York Television Festival’s Comedy Pilot competition and a deal with FX Network.
Maher has served as a mentor for the Warner Bros. Writing Program, and serves on the Board of Trustees for the Launch Leadership Foundation, dedicated to teaching leadership skills to teens. A graduate of George Washington University, Maher also holds a Certificate in Marketing, Social Media & Web Analytics, from UCLA Extension. He regularly consults for writers and producers on project strategy, story and character, and personal branding.
Come enjoy our monthly networking events where filmmakers, film enthusiasts, and talent both in front and behind the camera come together to network, share ideas and help develop the foundation of film-making in Nebraska!
Guests are always welcome. When applicable, announcements and updates are shared about upcoming projects, as well as updates about efforts to strengthen and enhance the film/commercial industry in Nebraska.
And, as always, if you would like to make an announcement at the event about a movie, video, or advertising projects, we would appreciate it if you would run it by a board member first.
See you there!
